This St. Joseph Holy Oil comes in a 3/4 oz glass bottle of oil.  We obtain this oil from the Shrine of Brother Andre who had a strong devotion to St. Joseph.

An explanation of this oil from the shrine of (Saint) Brother Andre:  The use of olive oil is an ancient tradition. It was massaged on skin and it soothed wounds. It is employed in religious rites and is used sacramentally for the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. Brother Andre often suggested to the sick who had come to him seeking relief that they rub a bit of oil on the part of their body that was hurting, and at the same time invoke Saint Joseph for assistance. He took the oil from an oil lamp burning in front of a statue of Saint Joseph in the chapel.  The oil was not blessed since Brother Andre was not a priest. He made it clear that the oil itself had no miraculous curative power: only God has the power to heal. He emphasized that prayer and this gesture symbolizing the strength of one’s belief were ways of expressing one’s inner faith in God’s power.  Since the days of Saint Andre, it has been the custom here to place some vegetable oil in a basin, place in it a floating wick, and let it burn in front of a statue of Saint Joseph for a time. That’s why it’s called Saint Joseph Oil. Then it is put in bottles. We invite people to use this oil as a sign of their faith as they pray to God for the graces they desire. There is no special prayer to say: you can recite any prayer that you wish or use you own words.  Fr. Claude Grou, c.s.c of the Oratory says that they receive many letters from people who say that they have been cured after using the oil and praying to Brother André and Saint Joseph.
